Another female singer - who happened to come and go from about 1926-33 was Annette Hanshaw. The 'sound' of this period was lost from about 1934 on.

The period of 1926-33 spawned a particular minor 'sound' which was taken over in 1934 by the big bands. The Boswell sisters were part of this great period.

I love these sophisticated, slightly sassy numbers they do--top shelf jazz, Bombay Sapphire gin, if you will.

Actually bass and drums are both on this track. Remember, the recording techniques of this era consisted of hanging a microphone central to the band and then the Boswell Sisters would be miked or just lean into the overhead mike, Still, I can hear the bass line underneath and the drummer is using brushes. The Boswell Sisters were jazz singers and as such would have always opted to have a rhythm section backing them if available.

@Henry24542 Thanks for your comment! You are 100% right! I took my information "blind" from guymcafee com (mostly correct info). I corrected the list of musicians! Grtz, Aad

Great song, which would be lost if it wasn't for this recording. Credited two three greats, Andy Razaf, Don Redman, and Thomas "Fats" Waller.

This song was featured in the recent bust of a movie "All the Kings Men." Just afew bars, but enough to earn the Sisters a note in the credits.
