Passive (live) - Track from Tapeworm project - discontinued, never released side project of Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, Marilyn Manson, Danny Lohner, Charlie Clouser, Maynard James Keenan, Atticus Ross,Alan Moulder.

Tapeworm was a defunct side project of Nine Inch Nails which existed in various forms from 1995 to roughly 2004. Tapeworm never released any recordings, but was frequently referenced in interviews. The band started as a side-project between Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and live-band members Danny Lohner and Charlie Clouser. Through the years the group expanded and evolved numerous times to include artists such as Maynard James Keenan, Atticus Ross, and Alan Moulder, effectively turning the project into a supergroup. After many years of rumors and expected release dates, Reznor announced the end of the project in 2004.

It's called Vacant. And it's being played live by A Perfect Circle here. It barely even amounted to a full idea during the Tapewerm Project days. Trent had some but little input on it at that time. Although that's the song's origin. Passive was only named so after a full official remix also by A Perfect Circle released on the eMotive album. And btw, this is REALLY incomplete, not even half of this live performance.

Where's the rest, yo? My mp3 is 4:12 and this one stops at 2:08. Also, in case anyone cares, my tags say this was recorded at Keller Auditorium in Portland Jan 31, 2001, but I don't know where that info came from, I've had the mp3 for over a decade.

I just learned that Passive was originally a song called Vacant from the band Tapeworm. It was a side project of Trent Reznor's and MJK's. Lyrics are the same but the music is different. Maybe its the recording but I prefer Passive, the APC version. It would have been cool to see what they could have done together.

This song is actually called "Vacant". Many confuse the song with "Passive" or think they are the same. Albeit very similar (the lyrics are the same), however the music is different. Passive (on APC's 3rd album eMotive) was based on Vacant after the disbanded Tapeworm Project (prior to the release of eMotive).

Anyone know where I can get a non-live version of this song from?

No, Maynard used to have his roadies select those types to fuck backstage. It's the truth. I was in the ATM line at an APC show, and this occurred before my very eyes. Roadie: "Ladies, Maynard would like to see you, backstage." Girls: "Oh, um, okay..."
