For god's sake, people are allowed to prefer one version or the other. It's not sacrilege. The Bangles are not thieves or charlatans; they respected the original song, and that should be the end of it. Exactly. Simon & Garfunkel did that in their style and The Bangles (Who by the way have a deep appreciation for 60's Music.) did it in a Power Pop Style that came out very good, too.

There are many renditions of so many songs. How many artists do you think sang Unchained Melody? People are entitled to have a preference of which rendition they like. No-one is right..no-one is wrong. I would think the people who actually wrote the original songs would feel honored that they were remade..even years later..to keep their music known for future generations to come.

@jamesdwhitejr I agree with you. At one point in the mid-1980s, I pointed out to an older friend of mine that several cover versions of 1960s hits were being issued on CDs that younger kids thought were fresh songs. It was disgusting when you began counting the cover versions during that time.
