This is the original version of Rosalie as performed by Bob Seger. Of course it was later made famous by Thin Lizzy and always played in conjunction with Cowboy Song.

I do like the Thin Lizzy version more as it's revved up to the max!

Definitely prefer this over the Thin Lizzy cover purely due to the raw sound this track has and plus Seger's voice can't be beat.

Most people don't understand this song. Seger wrote this song as a protest of Ms. Trombley. She decided what got played on the most powerful station in the Detroit area, across the river in Windsor. He didn't think she gave him enough air time, so he wrote this piece. Listen to the words, its pretty sarcastic. That is why she hated it. Good memories.

I'm from Michigan, and believe me, around here Bob's the only one who matters.

BOB wrote a great song, PHILO made it world famous, in the past few years LEMMY has kept it alive as part of Motorhead's live set.

To me Lynott owns this track simply because I'm a thrash head and need a bit of speed.

I read Seger said don't give it air time. He didn't think it had the substance to go anywhere. Satanlivesinmybowels is correct- she musta had a pair "She had the power, she had the tower, Queen Rosalie". He wrote it as a gesture which acknowledged the comraderee they shared and the respect she had earned from being a straight shooter. Giving it air play could easily be construed as a conflict of interest, whether it was said out loud or not.

I love Lynott I love Moore. But I grew up in Michigan and I bought "Back In '72" around '74 and also grew up with Seger's version for the last 40 years. The whole album is great. The posts below are correct. Rosalie worked at CKLW as a tech or a marketing person, whatever. She was responsible for pushing a local unknowns music in front of the DJs and the result became a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.
