I think the lyrics here go beyond just wanting to work less hard. Randi here is, to my mind, expressing what he felt about his last days with The Eagles. The fear and loneliness is there in his eyes in the footage of the Hotel California tour. This is a man trying to say goodbye to his life. He was an Eagle but needed to stop being one to retain his sanity.

Just rewatched this video focusing more on pics than the voice which is usual and realized I've never seen most of them. Thanks for posting. Loved him since the Eagles came to Birmingham in '72 or73. Still do and always will. Especially loved the ending
