Poco - You Better Think Twice

Poco's problem back then was people weren't ready for taht kind of sound. At a time when Led Zeppelin, Stones, Eagles etc were around people wanted heavier rock. If Poco was around today they'd be a hit.

Oh yeah, they do make music like that now. It's just not played on commercial radio. Try satellite radio, or explore the inetrnet. My latest find is Ryan Bingham, and Ry Cooder has an awsome album of western-themed music. I'm not normally a western-music gal, but these guys have awesome talent.

On this day in 1970 (October 10th} Poco performed "You Better Think Twice" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... One week earlier on October 3rd it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #72 and spent 8 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #61 on the Canadian RPM Tracks chart... Future Eagle Timothy B. Schmit was at this time the group's bass player, having join the group the September 1969... R.I.P. Mr. Clark... {'Something Else' ran for one season, 25 episodes}

That was Fantastic! I love that whole album. it sounds so young and fresh (which they were). I don't know why they didn't sell more records. We all loved to hear them whether or not we were buying them. I finally bought all their music when it came out on cd and just couldn't believe how beautiful and uplifting all of their music is. They were a great American band. They Byrds were always my favorite of that genre, but I think Poco is really more fun to listen to.

This is the first Poco song I heard & I was hooked on them. I wished Jim Messina stayed longer in this band, because I think they would have made it really big if he did. They were all really talented, but Jim added something special to this band, They never got the fame they deserved.

i have been a pro for over 40 years and i firmly believe this is the best written, most rockin' acoustic rock song in history. the mold definitely fell off the bench after these guys.
