too often nowadays in death metal is feeling atmosphere and taste forgotten. back then they had a sense for that. bands like cannibal corpse and others have really lost there shit today. especially the newer pointlessly technical bands. if you cant mix that skill with songwriting brilliance you are third rate at best. a guitarist can have mediocre skill but be a genius composer and create some very complex beautiful sounds. its just sad that this has been forgotten. pestilence and nocturnus embodies this. death to. and morbid angel as well even though they weren't as technically wizardlike. its the song people the art. but that's not to take away from shredding as a skill. its still nice to hear a brilliant sweep. much like the one 3:34. awesome

I agree completely. At one point in time, deathcore was done right with real men making music that actually hit as heavy. Bands like Animosity, Despised Icon, etc. Now it's nothing but dumb ass kids who think that open chords make a song heavier, and don't get me started on how pitiful the vocals are. It has no structure, and every year, the influence of hardcore is even harder to hear in the bands. It's a pain in the dick just knowing that overproduction and chugging is what kids think heavy is
