In the year I bought this no one believed it was the same as in Oldfield Tubular bells. Now everyone has it as a hidden or extra track. But I have it as B-side extract from Tubular bells :)

That trademark guitar arpeggio in the background, multi-layered - even with the humour and the obvious "god what do we put on the b-side", it's still got everything Mike is famous for.

@jslasher1 I'm not sure what you were expecting, but as far as arranging old folk tunes in his unique style, Oldfield achieves his desired sense of unfettered fun with this recording. I'm sorry you don't like it, but more for the rest of us.

@MadTheDJ Thanks for the information! I couldn't quite find it on my own. Her voice is so charming :)

@Rainborn It's Vanessa Branson, sister of Richard Branson. Richard started Virgin Records with "Tubular Bells." This track was recorded during the the sessions for Oldfield's next album, "Hergest Ridge." And yes, her voice is great on this!

@nixart No, this was the B-side to Mike's re-recording of a section of Tubular Bells - Part 2 in 1974. Depending on the territory, the "William Tell Overture" B-side was either "Argiers," "First Excursion" or "Portsmouth."

Was this the B side William Tell?
