I've actually found 3 Johnny Carson show segments where the group appeared. This is the second one which features Heart's Desire and Unchained Melody. Like the first tape, this is a 20+ year old VHS-EP speed done over the air on a mono-recorder. I believe it was 1982, possibly 1983. Tweaked the sound a bit different than the first segment I posted and I believe I brought the voices out a bit better. It won't win any rewards for audio restoration, but trust me, it's better than it was :)

I've always loved the Manhattan Transfer, and "Heart's Desire" is such a stunning example of their energy, enthusiasm, and ability to join all sorts of crazy dimensions of their talents together.  I love Janis and Alan -- Alan just jumps with energy.  I sure do miss Laurel Massie.  Love Scotch and Soda so much and miss her singing it.  Thanks for picking Hearts Desire!

Saw them live in Cape Cod, Mass, and ran into them at a restaurant just before the show. Super friendly, easy going, very nice!

Their music reminds me of the doo wop music when I went to teen club back in the 50's and did the slow dance called the bounce. Where have the years gone. They are off-the-charts fantastic. Iris - Feisty Mom

unclealand: Oh stop the nonlinear irrelevant blarney. I enjoy the fact that you and yours are so externally validated in your opinions. It's so fun to watch. And speaking of "help..." you might wanna check with your therapist about your specific delusion, hon. You've "moved on?" Not likely... especially with you and your sock puppets Thumbing away like crazy.

unclealand: Oh I LOVE this!!!! I check back a week later and... you and your sock puppets have Thumbed this Thread even more. Wow... Ever talk to your therapist about External Validation? Thumb On you Thumbing kwazies!

Please, try to stop ranting and get hold of yourself. You don't know me and you don't know anyone in the Manhattan Transfer. I know that'll probably drive you over the brink, but maybe it's best; you'll get help.

unclealand: "Moved on?" As is evidenced by your snappy comeback... from someone who obviously Thumbed his little heart out on this thread to make himself feel superior? Can you spell "Hypocrite?" I don't care what you think of me... what I do care about is that you and the other sycophant (or thumb-puppet), LaurelStevens, have this desperate need to "thumb" anyone who disagrees with you. Sad.

Y'know what? I've kind of lost interest and moved on. Some advice: it's pathological to have your self-worth determined by what others think of you.

I figured I'd check back here after the weekend... and I am completely amazed at you little thumbers... disappointed too. If someone isn't particularly enamored of the same singers as you appreciate... then you act like Grammar School Children. If someone is thumbed Down enough, their comments don't appear here. I wonder if you guys would like it if people marked you guys as spam? I guess The whole Free Speech thing doesn't apply to the Manhattan Transfer?

Wowza... I am amazed that a comment as innocent as mine was Thumbed into Hell. Insecure? Sycophants? Loonies? Kinda crazy.

Wow... You folks are really the Thumbers.

57fuzzypink: The really funny thing here is the sycophant nonsense. Personally I like both Cheryl and Laurel... but it seems some folks in here need to think their favorite singer is the "Best..." rather than just someone they like better. I remember people doing this in Grammar School. All I'm doing is defending myself against a certain lying sycophant.

LaurelStevens: That's so nice that you look forward to my comments. Lonely? Got nothing better to do than lie about someone else? "Look in the mirror?" Dang... How old are you? !2? Maybe 13? You are a liar... You said I insulted Cheryl... I didn't. So stand by your lies as much as you like. Anyone with eyes and a brain can see right here that I never insulted her. Grow up little girl.
