It was perfect for the Turtles. It's a folk ballad, but Judee's love for Bach shines through even here. Her Jesus Was A Crossmaker (the title Sweet Silver Angels would have been less of a bible-thumper, Mr Nash) shows that she was in no way inferior to Joni Mitchell. It's still one of my favorite 1960s popsongs, the multi-dubbed vocals are so beautiful.

Very pretty. Judee Sill wrote this with the intentio of selling it. She was not quite the famous artist. The Turtles were very fortunate to be the first. But by far, the diamond clarity of Judee Sills is the only version.
