Alright, I know the lyrics are blurry, and I'm sorry about that. It was something to do with the upload, so I'll make better one and delete this one sometime. But you guys should know the lyrics anyway! I just thought YouTube needed some more Jonathan Coulton!

Love this cover. I was such a Morrisette fan as a tragic teen.

1. It's a cover of an Alanis Morissette song. He didn't change any of the pronouns.2. Even if it weren't a cover, it could be about a man whose boyfriend left him for a woman, or a man whose girlfriend left him for a woman. The gender of the person who left is never explicitly stated in the song.3. In the original version, the "cross I bear that you gave to me" is referring to a pregnancy. However, as Jonathon is biologically male, that line could now be interpreted to mean an emotional or psychological burden left over from the relationship.

Do you know how long I thought the line was "its not fair to deny me the cross-eyed bear you gave to me"

The emotion in his voice is amazing. I am stupefied that he doesn't have a top album

I love how both Coulton and Weird Al covered this song. They're both fantastic.

Internet, this cover is amazing and it doesn't matter that Jon is singing. The meaning of it doesn't change, and it is important to remember to keep a level of maturity with your comments.

Why would he change the genders in the song? Its a cover...

I'm so glad he didn't change the genders. Because it shouldn't matter. And it adds something much more interesting to the song. Not every song has to be straight. It shouldn't matter.

You're being sarcastic, right?

Well, considering a how the older version of the singer would make a good mother, this doesn't seem to be the case. Also the song was written by a woman

It just hit me that this song is about a Guy in love with another guy who left him for a Girl.

A song to Exodus International? It works that way.

Melancholy, perhaps.

I feel like a horrible person, because I was enjoying the song, listening to Jonathan Coulton's wonderful voice singing this wonderful song... and then "I'm still alive" ... hello Portal.

@theazreal I also thought the same! But then, I learned that this was just a cover by Coulton. This was originally sung by Alanis Morissette. :)) Still, I love the idea of a man singing it to his lover. Fits perfectly. :))
