This is the cover of Famous Blue Raincoat, done by Jonathan Coulton. I only noticed a small snippet of this version on YouTube, so I thought I'd upload this for all to enjoy.

I normally think Leonard Cohen should sing Leonard Cohen songs; he's got such a great voice for it. JoCo wouldn't have occurred to me at all for this one. And yet this is an amazing cover! Clearly one should never underestimate JoCo's versatility.

I'm pretty sure it's actually about a love triangle between the singer, Jane, and the guy being sung to. But feel free to interpret it however if you want.

Also, if you think about the lyrics this could be interpreted as a fictional suicide note.

I coulden't be more grateful that Jonathan Coulton covered this song, through his cover I got in touch with the original. I had heard of Leonard Cohen and his work before, but had never taken the time to let it speak to me. Through JoCo's version I took the time to discover Cohen, his songs and his performance, it enriched my life incredibly. Can't say I still think this version tops the original, but it'll definately continue carrying a special meaning for me!
