Lol, if you're in a place with political corruption, it sounds like a reference to an alderman or city councilor, that instead of repassing the money to the public/estate employed worker, snatches the big portion of the salary and gives the miserable portion to the worker and says "this is mine and this is yours" like "I'm gonna have my cake and eat it too and what I don't eat I'm gonna force feed you" and even if he's stealing he will say that it is his right and that's all the worker may get "and if it's all a lie I'm gonna say it's all true." Just my personnal opinion, of when a reporter convinced this said worker to take a hidden cam to record the act and show in open tv.

The "and if it's all a lie I'm gonna say it's all true" line reminds me of a Dostoyevsky quote..."If I learned that God was outside of truth and truth was outside of God, I would still chose God." At least that's what I thought of when I heard it.

Idk if the members of House of Heroes even know what Portal is, even if they don't, the first thing I thought of when I heard that line was Portal... so I mentioned Portal...

The main chorus is about the mindset of the american culture.

I'm halfway certain that is not a Portal reference

Way too underrated!

you like songs to be predictable? I mean, you'd expect a song to end, but instead you are pelted with a few more insane guitarsolo's from these talented and pretty underrated guys! I like that concept :)

This song should be retitled "How many times can we give a false ending to the song?"

I think I can't possibly do the song any right by trying to explain the meaning. HoH sings from the perspective of a lot of people by saying "I told my God his will could wait" I think he sings from a dreamless, heartless, Godless and selfish ("get nice things, get my way") perspective. I really like it that HoH doesn't give any opinion about that way of living. So that part is yours. ;-)

The "comfort trap" is having a cushy life, cool stuff and an awesome house, car, etc, but in the process of gaining all this stuff, sacrificing your relationship with God. "I told my God his will could wait, I've got one foot in a rich man's grave."

"I'm gonna have my CAKE and eat it too, and if it's all a LIE I'm gonna say it's all true." It may not be, but even if it isn't, that's the first thing it made me think about... so I that's what I commented.
