Number 1 UK charts August 1953.

By 1953 the Mitchell Magic was on the wane in the US. Nevertheless he was still very popular in the UK.

From 1953 to 1959 Guy had a further 9 entries in the UK Top Ten.There were 3 entries into the US Top Ten during the same period

Thanks for this one. Always great to hear Guy, especially as concerns a song that is new to me. Very underrated, very talented fellow with a winning way. Early in their careers Guy, Eddie Fisher and Al Martino shared an apartment in New York City. Boy that was a place full of talent. Since youtube changed things they no longer state a person's country of residence on their channel. From your description of this song, is it safe to assume you are a resident of the U K? A number of my favorite posters seem to be from there.

This reminds me of my girlfriend when I was 16, in 1953. I used to whistle this when I left her in The Heathway, Woodford Green.

I was 18 In 1953! My favorite singers were Frankie Laine and Guy Mitchell. I think that the British taste in music was more like my own.

1953 - I was sixteen with a crew cut, an ice blue gabardine suit, and a job in a newspaper office that paid not much more than one pound per week. Guy, Frankie Laine, Johnnie Ray, Jo Stafford, Doris Day etc were all the rage then although the BBC played British cover versions. Every 16 year old thinks their time is the best, as I did.
