Shared information from Markus Keller: Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu (1971 -) is an indigenous Australian musician, who sings in the Yolngu language. He was born on Elcho Island, off Arnhem Land, in northern Australia, about 550 kilometers from Darwin. It is the clan of the Yolngu Gumatj and Nation Galpu by his mother. He was born blind. Yunupingu speaks only a few words of English, and is very shy. He plays drums, keyboards, guitar and didgeridoo, but it is the clarity of his singing voice that has attracted great reviews. He sings stories of his land Yolngu and English. Yothu Yindi with once, he now plays with the Saltwater Band. In 2008 he released his first solo album "Gurrumul" in Australia. Elton John invites him to his first game at the Sydney Opera House; the ARIA Awards, Gurrumul won the award for "Best Independent Album"; and he won two Limelight Awards; 3 and AIR (Australian Independent Record). In 2009, "Gurrumul" comes in France 27 October1. He spends the first time on French television on December 15 of that year, performing a duet with Sting on Taratata

Beautiful song - beautiful language. I'd love to hear a version of our anthem in an aboriginal language. I know there are many languages but with goodwill I think something which pleases most could be put together. Works well for the Kiwis.
