Lyrics:

Why do robins sing in December,

Long before the springtime is due?

And even though it's snowing,

Violets are growing,

I know why and so do you.

Why do breezes sigh ev'ry evening,

Whispering your name as they do?

And why have I the feeling

Stars are on my ceiling?

I know why and so do you.

When you smile at me,

I hear gypsy violins;

When you dance with me,

I'm in heaven when the music begins.

I can see the sun when it's raining,

Hiding ev'ry cloud from my view;

And why do I see rainbows

When you're in my arms?

I know why and so do you.

Real tight harmony from the Modernaires as always. Think only the Pied Pipers were close & Maybe Crosby Stills & Nash

I first heard this song at the Museum of Flying at Santa Monica Airport in Southern California in either 1994 or 1995. Listning to this song brings me back memories of that beautyful day with me as little kid visiting the Museum of Flying! I sometimes even think of it as the Museum of Flying Anthem!

I should know the name of the singer, as I grew up with the Glenn Miller Band. Does anyone know? I have the Gold Album of my mother's but it is packed away right now.

I really love this old classic. This was the sort of thing Miller and his white bread approach excelled at. Schmaltzy, yes, but damn fine

The orchestra's video does not sync with the audio, but the vocal's fit perfectly. I suspect they were short a camera or two and had to edit in from multiple takes. At first I thought it was movie footage with an audio track superimposed until they started singing. It's amazing watching old movies like this and seeing how they put them together back then.Editing aside, for the time, this epitomizes the glamour, charm and brass that colored the 1940s Hollywood in varying shades of silver.

Say hello to a bye-gone era. Where men were men, and women were damn glad of it.

I can't believe it! I've been looking for this song since I heard a part of it in the film Memphis Belle. It's marvelous! I've passed hours in the net, in the last months, trying to find about it and I hadn't found anything, now I just suddenly find it!It's a beautiful song!
