Poor basses. We're playing this this year but at a tempo of 120

This will probably ruin this song for some people, but Verne Gagne's All Star Wrestling TV program from Minneapolis used this song (a different version) as the theme back in the 1970s. My high school band played it when we pestered the director to let us.

Absolutely incredible, I think there definitely needs to be more tuba.

My favorite tempo for playing this march is about 120 bpm, so the piece lasts about 3 minutes.   I prefer to hear it at this tempo too.

Fantastic! I like the up tempo.... would be extremely difficult to march to at 140 to 150. The artculation is impeccable and really makes this piece pop. I've played this march countless times in high school andow play it in community bands. The most difficult thing is getting the articulation this clean.

I think this is the cleanest I have ever heard it, yeah its a tad fast, but they probably play more together since its faster.. Just like Equus where in the (5/8) It is hard to conduct so conductors usually get the best result by not conducting it.

Regardless of the band playing this march, it's WAY too fast. It's a very nice march when played at a sensible tempo, say around 115-120 bpm. I don't recall that Huffine wrote "screamers" like King and others.

Was Huffine a real person or just another name under which Fillmore wrote?

When we played this song, it wasn't as nearly as fast or strong. (i wish) My band director had played this for us in school, and you could clearly see a lot of the people were getting lost because they couldn't count the measures correctly.

My high school played this last year, it was great (I play lead trombone). Love everything you put up in terms of marches Op, my hs or jh have played most of them :)

Eastman somehow gets the best out of its players. You will simply never hear music played cleaner than Eastman (including professional groups, since they have less time to rehearse).
