Contrary to certain opinions here Georgia is the genuine article, born in London's Whitechapel in the East End, a real Jewish Cockney rather like Lionel Bart himself who came from exactly the same district, E1. She doesn't have to pretend to a Cockney accent like some of the actresses who later played Nancy, that's what she had from birth. .

in the early 70's we had a vinyl LP of her singing old Cockney songs like "I Live In Trafalgar Square" it was tremendous - I always loved her because of that memorycan't believe she died so young there was always something indestructible about herR.I.P. Georgia x

over acted facial expressions over exaggerated cockney voice and just well.....laboured. She sounds like a strangeled cat and isnt a patch on Shani wallis or Sally Dexter or Samantha Barks or kerry ellis even....They all sang this song with real emotion and with tears....Georgia just pulls funny expressions and screeches....dreadful Nancy and i know others of the oldies generation will probably moan at me for saying that but its true....she just cant act or sing. Period.

I saw her in the original on Broadway on a high school class trip in '63 or '64.. Unforgettable! It was a magical moment that stopped the show. I still get the shivers, seeing it here now for the first time since then. Thanks for posting!

Man, can she ever belt it out! I would love to have seen her live. She does some nice blues stuff, too. I played Fagin once in the musical, and our Nancy was on a par with Ms, Brown. We were lucky!
