This Alec Wilder tune is 70 years at least. Great melody and lovely lyrics. Shearing had it all going, way back when. Thanks, Bob.

It must have been in 1954 at the Black Hawk in San Francisco. I sat alone, a sailor in town for Fleet Week drinking mu little 7oz Pabst Blue Ribbon and soaking up your set ... half an howr at a time with Dave Brubeck. At one point before a tune you addressed the folks sitting there enthralled "Pay attention to the 11th bar" for the something or other musically and I still remember that night., I'm an old old man now, but you were always tops. Good wishes

"god's empty chair." when he left the stage. so nice to see kerouac quotes here. i emigrated in the opposite direction to be with the Hessich woman i met in San Mateo at Blues on "B" street. Nice club, if it's still there. Enjoy some great Mexican food and think of poor us, here, who have none. Ach jah. Greetings from Ffm ..mt

One of my happiest moments in 1962, when I just had immmigrated from Germany to California, turned out to be an evening at the San Francisco 'Blackhawk' with HIM and the Quintet on stage. Jack Kerouac wrote in "On the Road": "He was our God". So he was mine and still is. When he left us and became immortal, a piece of my very personal musical universe left with him. Thank you for your wonderful upload, bobjazz11 !

Beautiful, but I think the engineer didn't like vibes, they're usually up a bit to blend with the guitar and block chords .... Still great!
