Just a delightful piece of Easy-listening or Chill-out jazzy music which can make you forget all around and sit back and enjoy. A Speciallity of George Shearing, uncomparable with anyone else, the way he sounded and played, RIP Sir George Shearing. (02-14-2011)

This is simply and simple elegance and style. And absolutely cool.

Oh shit, totally thought that was Eberhard Weber for a second there at the beginning when all you could see was the back of his head.

Aged 16 In 1947 I became crazy, and still am for modern jazz after being addicted to listening to the American Forces Radio during the war so, my dad bought me a trumpet and I had lessons in the West End to learn to play it. After the lessons I would always go to watch and listen to some of the greatest jazzmen of the time in a club nearby and I would have my trumpet with me. I'm 83 now and I've forgotten the name of the club??? I used to go there with a friend the same age as me and a great pianist too. Amazing as his parents were both born deaf! On one particular night some-one in the group with Sir George came down from the stage and asked me to join in but I was much too embarrassed to play with such greats. With a bit of luck and longevity, there still might be some-one out there who could tell me the name of the club? It was only a small place but one night The Inkspots dropped in and sang a few songs with Sir George playing with them. Incidentally, there's a latest spy novel out by John Lawton called "Lily OF THE FIELD" that in his book mentions some of the London West End jazz clubs and famous jazzmen of those past days.
