This is an unauthorized concert recording by the first ELO line up, featuring Roy Wood, It is mentioned in the sleeve notes of the remastered version of ELO's first album as existing only as part of a private collection. It would seem that the private collector has finally let it loose, up to now I have never seen it available for download in any format. The recording quality was poor to start with. I performed a restoration and remastering to improve it to near excellent. I used the clips from Granada TV appearance and created a montage to go along with the audio. Unfortunately there is no footage of this concert. Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you for posting. I was ten when this single was released in the UK. I liked it then and I still think it's the best ELO song.Woody is beginning to look out of place, but, is that only with hindsight, knowing the history of the band. Was he actually looking out of place at the time? On some performances, you can see JL give him a kind of 'look', if you get my meaning.I notice Bill Hunt had the headphones on that always seemed seemed to be around during the late days of The Move and early ELO.

Interesting to see what the lineup looked like back in the day. The sound is awful. To hear the performance of this song fully realized with today's technology, fulfilling Jeff Lynne's vision, see the Hyde Park BBC Radio 2 performance with the BBC Concert Orchestra on youtube.

One of my all-time favorite songs, but that was one rough performance. Somewhat surprising, given Jeff Lynne's production perfectionism. But it's fun to see just what dingalings they were back in the day.

Love the song; I don't mind that this sound quality is off, it is just so cool to see them! I guess Jeff Lynne wore the long orange robe because he didn't look as silly as the ones with the cellos?! Absolutely brilliant :)

This clip, despite the poor sound quality, really shows what early ELO was all about, combining classics with rock'n roll. Perhaps they were too ahead of their time and as someone else remarked the technology available didn't allow them to show their true power. Of course when Roy Wood left the group changed direction somewhat. Thanks for this clip, an interesting piece of musical history

It's great to see this early line up in action! Footage of something just beginning, later to become big, is often raw, if it exits at all. I disagree with the criticisms and applaud the effort made in sharing this. Thank you!

not very often do you get to see the start of something amazing - well done to whoever restored this. i know its out of sync and it sounds poor, but just to see footage of this line up - live ... brill! keep em comin!
