This was Great Xpectations. It was in order to get XFM the FM status that it later got in London.

@lismclis51 You're welcome. I feel the same way. Yes, "musically" is a word, and they were front-runners to be sure.

One of the, if not the most underrated band of this generation. I can always go back and listen too these guys and remind myself how incredible they were. Lyrically, musically ( IS THAT A WORD) lol, they were frontrunners. Than-you for this post ohrob.

@ohrob If I remember rightly this footage was shown on ITV's late night music show 'The Beat' which was presented by Gary Crowley. Black Metallic was also shown as well from the same gig.

@fundy76 I've also yet to see a recording in high enough fidelity to get the true sense of their live show. I've seen hundreds of bands, and their live sound was stunning, among the very best ever. I fear that you may never get your chance to confirm it. Maybe they'll get back together some day. Rob's solo tours are still amazing, if not quite the wall of sound, harnessing of the wind that the full band was.

I was a late blooming CW fan, but I got on the "Wheel" just in time for their final tour in 2000. Saw them at the intimate "Troubadour" as well as both shows at the El Rey Theatre on Wilshire Blvd. here in Los Angeles. Catherine Wheel produced a brilliant wall of sound; a beautiful blast of rock and roll.

Perhaps true, but Rob's solo act in Toronto was one of the best concerts/gigs I've seen since 1985, my opinion of course. I did not see The Wheel, so ya, would love to see that.
