A cover of the song originally performed by CSNY (Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young). This was featured in a commercial for Sony during the 2003 Super Bowl. Personally, hearing this song always cheers me up.

A great cover because Alana made the song her own! Good night all!

"Cover song," right.Tell you what, go to any classical musician and tell them all they do, down there in the orchestra pit, is play covers, some of them hundreds of years old. What a bunch of un-with-it losers. If a song is nothing but the One True Studio Recording, now and forever, amen, it is dead and embalmed. No musician worthy of the name has nothing to add in her performance of a favored work.I grew up on CSNY; I think "Teach Your Children" is a glorious anthem of the very best ideals of the hippie movement. I generally find Alanis to be more than a little whiny. But here, Alanis' instrumentation and arrangement beats CSNY all around the town. This is not "cover". It's a great performance of a classic.

This is a work of art, period. It doesn't matter her that she is doing a cover song. She is performing it with such intense feeling that she has made this possibly the best rendition of this song. The mixing, the superb background vocals, the musicianship, all put together makes this song a masterpiece.

I've always loved this since hearing it on the commercial. This girl could sing the phone nook and make it sound great.Where is she now?

I would like to make it clear that I am not a fan of cover songs (I don't like artists riding other artists coat tails.) That being said, There are exceptions to every rule. #1.Who ever is doing the cover makes the song their own. #2 The song has to be done extremely well.

I absolutely love her voice. I have all of her albums, and saw her in an intimate concert and she was great; just a voice and a guitar. Very beautiful lady who produces her own stuff. (Tigress Records) her own company :)

The vocal arrangement with her voice in the foreground makes much more emotional sense of the lyrics than the CSN original's. Too bad she gets a couple of the great lyrics wrong!! It's "a new way to see the dawn," not "to see along." And "The Sun, he come, the world to soften up," not "and the world is all full of light."

Love this version! She has a great voice, and is a great guitar player as well! Unfortunately, she has all but disappeared.
