LIVE Princes Trust 2004 -

All of the musicians who recorded the song in 1979, including Buggle Geoff Downes and vocalists Debi Doss and Linda Jardin, are present and performing it for a live audience for the first time.

This is absolutely the tightest, most perfectly performed live music I can recall ever hearing. Folks, you're not supposed to be able to do this to this degree. This is a complex song, and to reproduce the vocals, the instrumentation, and the mix to this level of excellence must have required a tremendous amount of rehearsal. It's just uncanny to listen to. I've picked it to pieces, and I don't think they cheated on a single note.

Trevor Horn is such a dignified, yet clearly reluctant, frontman. It makes him all the more endearing.

It's a beautiful live version, and not to take anything away from it, but you do know that these things never are just live recordings, right? On this track it's harder to hear, but listen to Trevor Rabin's voice in "Owner of a Lonely Heart", from the same DVD. It's doubled (at least) in the studio. If I know anything about the illustrious Mr. Horn, I'm sure there were lots of added tracks and sweetening to the entire show.

Some folks get a bit testy about age. Trevor looks like he's in his forties, not eighty.

Even better LIVE than the video was. So video hasn't killed real music after all. Well.. it's not quite dead yet ;)

The music, as evidenced here, is still alive and good, and it moves you inside. When the smoke clears and you hear "You Areeeee a Radio starrrrr" it gets you right in the heart. That voice and the music behind it is as clear as it was in 1979. It connects with people today as much as it did then. I cannot say the same for this generation's music. I cannot see Carly Rae Jepsen singing her teeny bopper songs when she is 50. VKTRS will live on...in my mind and in my car...
