Video Killed The Radio Star*Video Killed the Radio Star/Kid Dynamo è il primo singolo del gruppo britannico di musica pop The Buggles (il duo diramazione degli Yes formato da Trevor Horn e Geoffrey Downes), pubblicato dalla Island Records nel 1979, che anticipa l'album d'esordio The Age of Plastic (1980).Uno dei principali motivi per cui il brano è tanto celebre, è che il suo videoclip, diretto da Russell Mulcahy, andò in onda per inaugurare le trasmissioni di MTV il 1º agosto 1981 alle 00:01. Tale scelta non fu casuale, sia perché all'epoca pochi artisti avevano l'abitudine di realizzare videoclip dei propri brani, e i Buggles erano tra questi; sia perché la canzone e le immagini del video (in cui, tra l'altro, si vedono esplodere delle radio) parlano di una “stella della radio” che perde popolarità con l'avvento dell'era della “musica da vedere”; infine perché Video Killed the Radio Star era stata a lungo in testa alle classifiche internazionali e nel 1981 godeva ancora di molta popolarità, proprio grazie al creativo ed innovativo video.
