Blur "Charmless Man" guitar lesson. For this Riff of the Day, we use a Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret MKIII and a Blackout Effectors Fix'd Fuzz Deluxe to recreate Graham Coxon's tasty guitar tones. Charmless Man is a testament to Blur's exceptional timing and knack for catchy riffs that are often harder than you think. The intro bounces between unison bends and a driving A string followed by a quick D string pulloff. Next, Coxon uses minor7 chords and a little pulloff lick which quickly jumps to two more stabs (unison bends) that lock tightly with the band. The verse has a folksy descending riff in A while the root walks down to F#. A fuzzy overdub attempts the same descending riff followed by a Hendrix style lick that shows Graham's vast musical taste. Enjoy your riff of the day guitar lesson!
