ZZ Top "A Fool For Your Stockings" guitar lesson. The next Riff of the Day uses the Diamond optical compressor and the Hardwire Supernatural Reverb in the Plate mode to match the sound of Billy Gibbon's Strat direct into the board. This one has a couple guitars in the mix, one being tuned to double drop D tuning. However, Mr. Gibbons plays this live in standard tuning for simplicity's sake. The verse has some jazzy minor 7th chords and a wonderful Bm7/E at the end of the chorus. We show the different phrasing with the main riff using standard tuning and the drop D guitar, which has two G notes in unison for a unique effect. Enjoy your Riff of the Day guitar lesson!

Good playing, but I thought the tone was way too tinny on this. Roll back the tone knob a bit and get rid of the superfluous effects.

standardtuning version is cool also, where you play low E string on 7th fret and bar over 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th string on 7th fret AND plays low E open and bar just the same on other strings, all done instead of Bm7/E play..... give it a try ;) checkout ZZ's at Rockpalast early 80's live

Fantastic tone. Word on the street is, the state of Texas has made Andy an honorary Texas Ranger, he rides shotgun with Reverend Billy F. Gibbons slaying bad guys and demons one note at a time by his righteous sanctified guitar playing.

Love your tone for the intro. Better than the original, if I daresay.

I always figured Andy's fingernails were made of Adamantium, but those upstrokes would demolish a new set of strings...Must be a slightly less dense material.

Execellent. I just got this backing track about 2 weeks ago. Now I don't have to listen & learn it from the CD.
