2:56 till the end.....vintage Billy Gibbons tone, most likely playing a Telecaster on this....love the twang in those riffs.I can see why this was Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitar player.....and not vice-versa.....a guy 7 years younger. Go figure.

I want so badly to find the original mixes of their first three albums. The remixes were shit, sorry Rev. G.

Francine actually written by Steve Perone (deceased) and Kenny Cordray (living in Houston). This is fact.

Thanks creepingflash for this version! I named my daughter after this song 'cos I was listening to the Sixpack at the time Great to hear the analog version without that crappy reverb!

On this day in 1698 Peter the Great of Russia imposed a tax on beards And 274 years later on June 20th, 1972 ZZ Top debuted on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart with "Francine"; eventually it peaked at #69 & spent 9 weeks on the Top 100 The trio's biggest hits are "Legs" & "Sleeping Bag"; both reached #8 on the Top 100 {"Legs" in 1984 & "Sleeping Bag" a year later in 1985} And of course their most successful album is 'Eliminator'; with sales of over 10,000,000 in the U.S.A. & 15,000,000 world-wide

Man!! I sooo much agree! I hate the POS remix! At least on this song you can hear the beautiful harmonics Billy plays at the end! My favorite part of the song!! Not on the re-mix

Bands don't realize the original studio recordings are the "real" songs for all the fans. But in their heads they may have an idea of how it "should have" sounded. Like George Lucas re-"mastering" Star wars. Sad but I guess they have a right to change their own art. But even the Mona Lisa should not be changed to make it better. It is perfect as it is. Perfection.

Awesome. Why the FUCK they don't reissue this and the first album with the original mix is just mind-boggling. So much better than that shitty 87 remix.

This song was originally written by Steve Perron and Kenny Cordray of Houston. It's a fact. They didn't get credit or money for years. Just look on Wikipedia or any place that you trust and see the writer credits. Perron, Cordray, Gibbons. Although Perron and Cordray wrote it.
