And from this, she had this idea where she got this "magic Seven League Boots" and had the ability to just go picnicking where-ever she damn well pleased; like go to the beach, and then blip back to Sonoma county, etc. She told us that this song helped her kind of figure out a direction for the rest of her album. It is certainly not what I ]think when I hear the song, but I appreciate the whimsy and quirkiness of it. :)

God, this comment is ancient, but I thought'd I'd add in for the sake of doing so. I FINALLY got to see Zoe Keating in Grass Valley a few nights ago. She played this and it was gorgeous. However, when she went into detail explaining how she came up with the idea, Keating said that she was kind of trying to figure out her music and everything while she was pregnant, and this came about. Basically: she went through a phase where she desperately wanted to do -- of all things -- picnicking.

Actually seven league boots isn't from the 1986 book, but from early modern Europe. The Brothers Grimm wrote about seven league boots in the German fairy tale Sweetheart Roland two centuries ago already :)

We heard this on DeGilabertos' "Echoes" show the other night and were very impressed. Playing against loops of yourself can be quite tricky but it seems like she more than got the technique down.

I think Escape Artist is my favourite but also Hello Night, Lost, Optimist and Frozen Angels all get me. Still this one is absolutely gorgeous, it might be in my top 3 :)
