Once again Peter Erskine shows that it's not 40 drums, 50 cymbals and 1000mph playing that make a solo! Getting 'music' (not just rhythm) out of a drum kit has to be one of the hardest aspects of drumming and Peter Erskine always delivers. Musically this man just gets better and better and, just in case you thought he didn't have the 'chops' of todays speed merchants, listen to Weather Report's 'Fast City' to hear speed, control, groove and musicality.

This guy and Jeff Hamilton play some of the most musically-relevant solos in the biz. Ari Hoenig ,Bill Stewary, Brian Blade solos are also interesting. Most solos bore me to sleep but his solos always have an inherent groove that is ever-present. When this dude solos I'm always hearing music.
