If it "feels" right then it is right. Look at his forearm moving, it works good for him while other players will tell you to keep your arm still and move your wrist only (that works best for me personally) then when you drill down further you find some guys use the hand parallel to the strings, some are pointing inwards like the way EVH does. Some use a closed hand and use the base of the palm as an anchor while others plant a finger on the guitar as an anchor and get speed from the wrist, others say that's wrong and don't use an anchor point...etc etc Just do what works best for you. It takes a lot of work to get your picking speed up and to keep both hands properly synchronised. Work at it and learn some good picking patterns to work with and like everything else, one day it will just click with you and will become second nature.

I was in the hotel at the Van Nuys Amp convention some years ago when Zakk got in an argument in the bar with Tommy Smothers. So they decided to arm wrestle over it. 70 year old Tommy Smothers PINNED Zakk TWICE! BWAAAA HAAAA HAAAAA !!! Zakk was nearly in tears over it... And his entourage couldn't believe a 70 year old TV comedian could pin him like that. Pretty funny....poor Zakk.... heh heh...

man, the notes are very clearly heard in this video, but on EMG Pickups where he did a solo on Andy James's 'find the feel' track, his notes didn't sound as good as this!
