Yusuf - Wild World Zulu Version (Live Yusuf's Cafe Session 2007) + Lyrics

Manje uhambile, ungishiyile inhliziyo ibuhlungu

Manje uhambile, ungishiyile inhliziyo ibuhlungu

Oh, Bana, Bana it's a wild world

It's hard to get by just upon a smile

Oh, Bana, Bana it's a wild world

and I'll always remember you like a child

You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do

And it's changin' my heart in two

'cause I never wanna see you sad, child

But if you wanna leave, take good care

Hope you have a lot of nice things to wear

But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there

Oh, Bana, Bana it's a wild world

It's hard to get by just upon a smile

Oh, Bana, Bana it's a wild world

and I'll always remember you like a child

Manje uhambile, ungishiyile inhliziyo ibuhlungu

Manje uhambile, ungishiyile inhliziyo ibuhlungu

Oh, Bana, Bana it's a wild world

It's hard to get by just upon a smile

Oh, Bana, Bana it's a wild world

and I'll always remember you like a child

Oh, Bana, Bana it's a wild world

It's hard to get by just upon a smile

Read from the last, UP-- I have left her name out for the sake of her privacy, but those who knew her, and her relationship with 'Steve', know who she is. Her picture hangs on my wall where it has for 40 years, and I think of her daily. Unlike 'Steve's' words "Now that I've lost everything to you", What she GAVE was far more than she ever took. If he 'lost' anything, it would have been part of his ego, for if she Loved him, he can keep that forever,as do all whose life she touched. Namaste, E<3

She was one of the gentlest, loving, most caring people who have touched my life and the life the 'lot of nice friends out there', of which she had many. She slipped back into anonymity, and lived her life as a mother and I can only assume a loving wife/partner of the fortunate person who shared her dream with her. My last memory of her, embedded in my timeline for eternity, was her face peering from the cab window as she waved a final goodbye to her American friends as she sped off to her dream

So the 'Wild World'... the world of illusion, is only what we make of it. It's purpose is 'experiencial', and meant to be enjoyed to the fullest. This beautiful young woman too full advantage of this gifts she was bestowed, and, molded them into the dream she had for a family and to live happily ever after. She did not have a vain bone in her beautiful body, or an ego-driven thought behind her gorgeous face.

I cannot help but wonder if the ZULU lyrics, 40 years later, still reflect the original emotion and 'warning'. She was hardly the 'child' he painted her in this song. She took NY by storm, and became a 'supermodel' cover-girl, lived on a farm 100 miles from the 'wild world' of NYC, as a simple country girl, and had a beautiful son, made her dream, returned to Sweden, had a family, and last I heard still lives there happiliy ever after. She bore another son who became a rock star.

I would like to see the written translation to see if he has changed his mind along with the lyric. He wrote this song about a friend of mine who was his 'main squeeze' at the time and she elected to become a high fashion model in NYC and realize her dream of making enough money to buy a farm in Sweden and live happily ever after. Hence all the language about 'nice things to wear' and 'getting by upon a smile'. He of course, wanted her to stay with him. Continued....

It's hard to separate ourselves from these warlike (and, religious) states of mine, especially when you hear this song.
