Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but Yuja's debut album with this Chopin sonata (#2) won rave reviews. I personally love the way she plays this piece, the music has drive, precision, and energy. I love the articulation in Yuja's account, you can hear all the notes, nothing is muddied like in many other versions of this piece.

agree with most here - she possesses great technical skills no doubt - but maybe not the greatest in her interpretations of Chopin....actually a long way short of greats such as Argerich, Rubinstien, Kissin and the like - no shame in that though; there all exceptional !

Una tarantola di scintille di suoni.E poi una ragazza che se la sa vedere con un tipo gioviale come Federico Chopin.

Not liking this interpretation. Her superb technical skills are apparently but there's no musicality in this performance. She only produces one kind of sound: definite, forceful, crisp. It comes off as rather one-dimentional and lacks the delicacy typical of Chopin's music. Her approach is better suited to Rachmaninoff perhaps? But even then...

With great anticipation, having known about this artist via YouTube, I attended her Orange County, CA concert on Oct 13, 2013. I knew before coming in that her Chopin was weak but she was astounding in other areas. She walked on stage in her tight mini-skirt dress, likely to shatter the traditional formality and to titillate some old crows in the audience. I was surprised to see that 1/4 of the audience came in dressed informally too.

(cont.) As a starter, her Prokofiev sonata was thoroughly delectable to hear from start to finish. Her Chopin was...well, let me put it this way, she shouldn't put it in her program. She had so many Chopin pieces I was almost about to vomit. After intermission, she played an interesting complex semi-jazz piece which beckons one to wonder and marvel as to how any young person in the world can play such a demanding piece, a truly extraordinary feat in itself.

(cont.) Stravinsky Petroushka ended the program's evening, but she was pretty much exhausted and it showed in her unsteady tempo. Frankly, that piece should be tucked away in an old closet as all her Chopin pieces, as her problem is not technical, but that she's too young and unfamiliar with the art.

(cont. ) Her encore was the Jewel of the evening, a whirlwind improvisatory interpretation of Bizet's Carmen which shook and dropped jaws in the audience. I would say that her live performance on this piece is better than on YT. She ended the exhaustive night w/ a second encore, a calming Chopin waltz, but, which, alas, reverted back to the hypocrisy of this lad---brilliant but bad too.

she's a good pianist, but for Chopin in solo not as great as Kissin yet; as accompanying pianist eg Mendelsohn she is great

Although I would guess that *all* 20-21th century performances are guilty of this to some extent, this sounds like a game of telephone. The message at the end is not what was said in the beginning. But - horses for courses!

Again a troll from this fool who sickens us with his racist bigotry and musical ignorance, reading his juvenile attempt to comment on Chopin's sonata 2. A pathetic psychotic... :-)))

Holy shit sorry to be superficial but she is hands down the prettiest pianist I have ever seen. It's actually distracting how beautiful she is!

A bit overoptimistic...he had technical concerns overt musical ones...as do you...
