@RedEyedrops daisuki is to like something very much. That can be food, a book, an animal, whatever, whereas ai shite iru is usually used to describe a relationship between humans. Daisuki can also be used for humans, but it has a childish and somewhat girly effect. But thats just my impression, I'm not Japanese :)

@BadLuckKidShinji ehem, you are wrong. In japanese, it's actually also 3 words. Ai shite iru. Ai meand love, shite comed from suru & means to do, iru means the person is doing it at the moment. Shite iru is often shortened to shiteru, but actually, these are 2 words. So 3 in total. Ai shite iru. Btw, sorry for my bad english, i'm not a native speaker.
