When I walked into Genetic Studios in 1982 it was enjoying worldwide number one Smash. It was quite literally a vision of the future, hugely expensive electronic instruments lined the walls, Martin sat in the Centre of the room like a Spaceship Pilot (possibly on the phone to New York) whilst Dave (very much the Igor to Martins Frankenstein) busied himself punching numbers into what looked like a giant electronic calculator. 30 Years later whilst working with Dave on a project he said to me, did you ever hear the demos I did at Genetic, I'd love to said I and a couple of days later some mp3 were waiting in my mailbox. The first Track I listened to was You and I, I couldn't believe this was done in 1979 it had the essence of the sound of that studio. The way the Simple Monophonic Lines worked the way the drums were programmed.. it was like a Genetic fingerprint of the Studio The DNA of Genetic.
