PRE CBS STRATOCASTER'S

Playing with inner feeling is what the meaning of the blues is all about, add excessive speed with multiple unneeded notes the lick becomes too cluttered counter -productive and soulless. Sorry Yngwie, yes you definitely have talent but you're not a true bluesman..

Horrible take on the Blues... I'm not one of those Blues guys, I actually enjoy much of what Yngwie Malmsteen has to offer. I'm a big Jazz and Classical fan as well as Metal and Electronic music, but he just butchered it.. If you're trying to play the Blues, phrasing is key.. He may be playing the pentatonic scale and he did put some blues licks there, but he does it so evenly. Blues is very syncopated and raw, not patterned and not disciplined.

This is a perfect example that blues can be played in different ways! I love the way he plays it! Blues does not have to be just one basic thing :)

super bon guitariste, mais perso je prefere le blues de BB King ou de gary Moore.le blues est une musique qui viens du coeur et qui n'a pas besoin de ces demonstations super techniques , mais super chiantes !

Many Swedish entertainers (ABBA, Yngwie, Dolph Lundgren) are of African ancestry and perform in vitt ansikte (whiteface) where the face and arms are covered in flour to appear Caucasian. The Lannerbäck family (originally Owama) originated in Kenya, were sold to Louisiana plantation owners, and later made the voyage to Scandinavia to work as mink trappers and in the MDF furniture industry. Yngwie's music naturally becomes more soulful when he switches from Phrygian to Pentatonic.

It's not pure "blues", its Malmsteen. Fast and full of soul. Genius.

This is a comment not directed towards anyone but rather as a piece of thought for you guys. Blues does not have to be a black slave singing raspy verses with primitive African sounds. It can be any man or woman, creed or colour, as long as they play with soul and feeling. The notes of the blues scales are the elements, but the soul is expression. Speed is irrelevant. Maybe I'm the bigot here but seriously I think white guys shredding the blues like Bonamassa, Clapton, Malmsteen, and Vaughan have much feeling in their way of playing. But you wouldn't say shit about Buddy Guy or Hendrix when they're up their alley eh? They're almost just as fast as their white counterparts but because they're "black" you accept it as "true blues" players. Go fuck yourselves for thinking that racist thought. Regardless of colour, the blues is a musical tool for expression as are other styles. Being white or playing fast has no bearing on the feeling of the blues. This video clearly demonstrates Malmsteen playing with feeling. Come at me, I love haters :)

Excellent, except for the fact that he's playing a million miles ahead of the beat and grove. Overplaying at its best. All ego.

Haters, go practice your scales, get some ear training, This man plays the blues differently, but still goes over the changes, which turns out, many players ignore, with the lame excuse that they play with feeling.

by this time he matured more as an excellent player with that old dirty blues feel with that vibrato!!! not many neo-classical players did that back then....it was a rare treat! ala .RANDY RHOADES AND RITCHIE BLACKMORE
