Ultimately, the only things that matter are whether or not you trusted Christ, how you served Him, who you brought into the kingdom, and how you served your family.

Never burn the most important bridge of your life, one day you may just want to go home.

Even those who heard this when we were young, and by the grace of God heeded the words of the warning and remembered our Creator in the days of our youth and followed His Son, feel and have always felt the pain of this song. This is the human condition. Who among us has lived a life with no regrets? Who among us has always thought of others first? Forgive us LORD and redeem your people from their sins. Now, I think of my daughter, who has had such a sad life because she did not heed the warnings. The gospel is that God can still make someone new, no matter what the past or the sins.

Don't waste your life on things that are temporal. Life will flash before your eyes and the only thing you have left are memories.

When Mickey Mantle saw Roy, he always wanted him to sing this song. At his funeral Roy sang it for him again.

This song really hits home. I'm almost 80, my wife is gone, there's nothing left. Time is growing short. Like the song says" Funny how time slips away".

This is the song for my funeral. The thing too remember we are all alone on stage to end the play. Its when we realize it that the reality sets in.

There’s a lot worse things than getting old. Some people don’t get that chance. What sucks is when you start to lose your friends. I’m only 43 and have already lost 3 classmates. One my best friend for almost 38 years committed suicide. This song does take into perspective every year

I came here because of a Glenn Campbell version of Charles Aznivor's song. In my mind Gleen gave only a poor imitation. In a time when country music was viewed as rough and simplistic Roy Clark came along and sang this song and "Left or Right at Oak Street.", "Thank God and Greyhound" and "On the Tips of my Fingers". No one could listen to him on these songs and think "rough and simplistic". But, then he also sang, "I never Picked Cotton" which was rough and simplistic and truthful. Thankf for the memories.

If most people knew the real inspiration and meaning of this song they would be shocked.

I just woke up from a dream with this song playing in my mind.  I was in the house where my wife & I raised out two daughters.  She was in our older daughter's bedroom, who was about eight at the time.  This song came on, & my wife came out of the room.  She even looked as she did back then.  We simply came together & began to sway to this song, as it was our favorite song while we were courting.  We just smiled & enjoyed the experience.  Upon waking, I had to hear this song while the experience was still fresh.  From all the wonderful comments, I see that she & I weren't the only ones touched by this beautiful composition.  My companion, who she got for me four years before passing, lays at my feet as I type this.
