The way I see it, it isn't really about Jon Davidson's voice. He really is a very good singer. Unfortunately, he didn't just have to replace a great singer, he had to replace a great spirit. Everyone who has followed Yes at all knows where all of that magic came from. You have only to listen to the first solo albums from the band. They're all good - but Olias was magical. So we don't want just another good singer, we are missing the spirit that made Yes, Yes. And that spirit belongs to Jon Anderson. I feel sorry for this guy because he really is a good singer - he's just not the right singer for this music. His voice lacks the urgency of Jon Anderson's. As far as the rest of the band, they seem to have lost their spark. I can't even listen to them play Siberian Khatru anymore it's slow, listless and has no energy. For those of us who saw them in their heyday, this is sad and disappointing. There's a lot of speculation on here about their motives and who's to blame for it all. I don't really know - I'm quite sure that no-one except the band members truly do know. However, I know that if I want to get a glimpse of the magic that made Yes my favorite band of all time, I will go and see Jon Anderson's solo act - because that's where the magic lives now.

My initial reaction was mild horror. I heard John Anderson interviewed about that break up, or about that time period and he said ( kindly) the other members of yes needed to pay some bills. I'm sure after decades of royalties slowing down they probably all have some chateau's and beach houses yet to pay for. Chris Squires collection of gold plated bathtubs alone could motivate him. Kidding but sort of not. Ah...the pains of wealth...

I grew up with Yes and finally went to see the band playing Fragile and Close to the Edge in Sydney, Australia (2014). The show was great but there is no way to compare the "new" Yes with Jon Davison to the real Yes with Jon Anderson. I am disappointed that Yes dumped Jon Anderson for Davison (and Rick Wakeman for Geoffrey Downes) instead of reaching amicable decision that will see the band continuing to perform with both Anderson and Wakeman. The other members of the band dumped Anderson only because “of their need to replace Anderson with someone young who could sing”. They also wanted to go on tour and money is a big issue but this was a bad decision. Anderson felt betrayed but again listening to him performing Yes songs on YouTube by himself and on tour in the same year, I must say that without Anderson the band lost its soul. With all the “hip hop” around Davison, Jon Anderson was fantastic in the band and still fantastic alone. I don’t see any problem in his singing and I guess that other fans would agree. Jon Anderson is irreplaceable. Hopefully Steve Howe, Chris Squire and Alan White are also reading this comment.

I think it was authentic. Captures the feeling of the times and that's nostalgia for you,

Lad, just call it a day. Too old, too staid, too repetitive and this attempt to replace Jon's voice is piss poor.Yes was pushed out by the other members who used to play in the band.

Is this really live or is it Memorex? i.e. he does a decent job singing, but he is not Jon Anderson who wrote this love song with powerful spirit to and about Jesus, and there is no mutant substitute we will certify!
