I know who this song is about, and Karen's kind of a cunt for doing it. This person was a writer who harshly criticized her for her appearance in a film. A few months later he had a nervous breakdown but came out the other end of it a better person. That's where the "was it the cure? Shell shock" bit comes from. He wrote under a pseudonym but his real name got out there which is where the "what's your name?" comes from. He was an author with some notoriety, and was on his way to true fame, but quit writing after the breakdown. He had some mutual friends with Karen, one of which was an on/off love/hate relationship with a girl who had dated Gerard Way from MCR. I'm just glad all these Bush-era Illuminati bands are over.
