Ai te busca el diablo
No importa si vas
Chiando
Chiando
Lagrimas bellas
Y el desierto el desierto los llaman
Dejando nos con la sed
Y no aye agua para tomar
No mas aye
No mas aye
No mas aye la sangre
La sangre de judas
Sangre maldita
Sangre pura
Aye te busca el diablo
Y no importa si vas
A la iglesia con mama
Dios vive en las manos
De nuestro abuelos
Dios vive en las manos
De nuestro recuerdos
Luz Elena Mendoza’s songs draw from her strict Catholic upbringing as an only daughter of a Mexican immigrant and the vocal harmonies of the Latin music she grew up around. Neko Case, who hand-picked Y La Bamba to open for her on multiple tours, lends her vocals to the title track of the band’s sophomore album, Court the Storm, produced by Grammy-winning producer Steve Berlin (also of legendary rock outfit Los Lobos). Court the Storm is packed with delicately crafted art-folk that finds Mendoza’s ethereal vocals combining with bittersweet melodies and thrumming, Latin-inspired rhythms, resulting in one of the finest indie-pop releases in memory
