Really? Because God banned profanity? So anyone who swears is against god and this proves your point? This may be a foreign notion to you, but any person of faith (or not) should spend some serious time challenging the beliefs that have been placed in their heads... and keep doing so. "Tapping the idols" as it is called in literature. If the idols are hollow, they will be smashed and it won't matter because they were worthless. If they survive the tapping, then proceed with renewed confidence.

What made you think the song was Christian or had Christan themes to begin with? Yeah, angels feature but angels aren't just a Christan thing. Tha'ts like saying you can't endorse Pokerface to be Christian. The only song that was really written against God was Dear God, I think Andy's weakest, most close minded song. There are songs they have that are more positive about that kinda stuff though like Deliver Us From The Elements and In Loving Memory of a Name. This song has nothing to do with God

Jesus was known to highlight "Samaritan's" and "Roman's" notions of faithfulness as "true" compared to common dogmatic practice. I don't know anything about Andy Partridge's deepest convictions, but I think that the faithful could learn something from songs that are willing to address God with the kind of frankness that cuts to the bone of our deepest doubts, anguish and confusion. Well its good that people have the courage to speak out against the existence of a (man made) God. People couldn't do that in the past because they would've been killed or socially shunned. Its great that people are writing about it because eventually we'll outgrow religion and Jesus will be up there with Hercules and Zeus as one of the greatest myths in human history.
