This has to be one of the most ingenious and catchy / upbeat songs from XTC. Un favorito.

Also Nothing's Shocking was a great album, but because of the writing and the delivery, not the production.

what? I never said the 80s were an irrelevant decade in music. Great albums such as Doolittle by the Pixies came out then, but there is no denying that from 1978-1986 there were certain conventions that existed in pop records, lots of reverb on the drums, sterile sounding guitar tones played through digital rack mounts (still in their infancy) and chorus where it need not be.

Give me a break ... listen to a band like Jane's Addiction who were one of those defining bands of the 90's and tell me those tracks weren't doused in reverb and delay. Nobody complains about stuff like that because it's always more fun shit on music of the 80's like it was an irrelevant decade for music... bullshit, plenty of great albums made, and good production.

The production on this song is top notch, it has none of the shit you usually hear in 80s albums (shitty reverb, shitty effects) it sounds like something that could have come out in 1995.

Why do people keep saying that XTC are 'underrated'? Maybe they are not 'massively well-known'... but certainly, anyone who knows them doesn't UNDERRATE them!
