You know what, this particular setlist they played at this show is kind of the perfect XTC setlist. It's pretty much every quintessential XTC song as well as several lesser-known hardcore fan favorites thrown in. Man I would've killed to be at this show. Also how come I always get the feeling when watching XTC live videos that the audience didn't understand XTC back then? Or is it just me?

What truth in this song; their lyrics are always so full of truth; love the church connections; so conditioned to turn the other cheek, the meek shall inherit the earth. Humm go figure; invented to keep us passive + slaves. YEP!! . Love talking with the older generation + how their story is a repeat of our life now. WHAT a hoot. Time to have fun doing our passions; these guys should be top paid performers without the Entertainment controllers but ON their own.. Thanks for sharing these Gems. XTC

I'm not the biggest fan of XTC, but I have to agree with you there. I don't think I've actually seen a band with more masterfully crafted lyrics.

This band has so much more to say than 99.9 percent of the overhyped bands out now.

when I saw them in NYC in 1980, andy was a whirling dervish; when i heard that he had stage fright, i couldn't believe it. seemed to be anything but.

This song is 1 of the " triumvirate " of XTC songs -- Paper & Iron...Love on a Farmboys Wages, & Earn Enough for Us ... which I feel , as a working Union man, truly speaks for anyone, like me, who struggles to raise a family...these 3 songs capture what a lot of people deal with
