Hardcore is still a brance off of the punk scene. The punk movement happened in the 70's to shout out "hey look at me, I am shockingly differant." Standing up for what you believe in is fine, but it contradicts its roots. Oh wait, so does Christianity. Carry on then.

GG allen was just some drug addict who hated everything/anyone and wanted to get as much attention as possible. He thought he was a rockstar when he first started and once reality slapped him in the face that he was a horrible musician he went for shock value. Doesn't mean he wasn't entertaining however.
