Even though this is from Enemy Within, I dedicate this to the memory of four brave soldiers: Snipers Anthony "Doomsday" Tariq and Todd "Spider" Wood, Support Lisa "Kitty" Crandall, and Heavy Shaojie "Zilong" Zhang.During the temple mission, Kitty, the medic of the group, had only two health left and just one medkit, yet she chose to save Assault Kate Jones rather than herself, as Jones was the volunteer and the key to the survival of the human race. Almost immediately after Jones was healed, Kitty was gunned down by a Muton Elite.During the final battle with the Uber Ethereal, Doomsday, Zilong, and Spider sacrificed their lives by going up close with the Muton Elites and Ethereals in order to distract them away from Jones, who vanquished the Uber Ethereal with the help of MEC Trooper Jennifer "Whiskey" Turner.Jones then sacrificed herself to destroy the Temple Ship and save Earth.Whiskey, the sole survivor of the group, also sacrificed something: Her body. She was the only soldier brave enough to become a MEC Trooper, despite all the sacrifices and bodily changes required. She willingly gave up her limbs and augmented her body to help save humanity.

A lot of us lost a close teammates, so am i. I am wrighting in honor of those who i lost. My first thanks to 2 brave soldier - Serious "Headbutt" Sam(Heavy) and Lt.Gordy"Shrek"Junior (Support), they gave their lives to Sectopod, so other could evacuate. And special thanks to a Mech Fighter- Prince "Yamato" John, from England, who sacrifised himself to hold chrysalids from whole wounded team in mission Fishing Village. I will never forget you. The final mission just made me cry. Two of my best soldiers who were together from the start saved Earth. Bonnie"Mosquito"H.A.W.K (sniper-psi) saved her friend Leah "Chief" Dardevil (heavy) by pushing them away from that control room. And even if Sky Ranger said none survived i still belive the others survived.

Which of you poor bastards made your Tutorial Heavy your Volunteer?I was about to, but my Egyptian Sniper, 'Crazy' Hassan had the higher potential.I imagined the final cutscene being a repeat of that Col. Marquez' very first mission against those Sectoids. In the end, he still couldn't do anything to save Hassan from the Frigate's explosion.I'm sure, in retrospect, he wished his C.O. would have picked him over Hassan.

I had a near perfect team, each member fitted perfect with my IRL friends. Near the end each faced their own fates against the aliens but my character, Heavy Colonel Cory "Smoke" Firestar faced his. When he sacrificed himself to save humanity, all will remember how he went from an average person to the savior of the world.Smoke leaves behind a loving wife and 11 yr daughter.XCOM has touched many brave souls who tried to stop the aliens from taking earth, but it was the brave souls who stepped up to fight back.

I tribute this to my best soldier, Molly 'Castro' Walker. She was my first psionic soldier. However she was pushed aside for the job as the volunteer, as my other psionic soldier Klaus 'Raggy' Schafnen was more psionically adept. And she hated him for that. But when the temple mission came Raggy was pinned down by a Sectopod. If earth was going to defeat the aliens she knew he had to survive and it would take a few turns to kill the Sectopod, and one more shot would kill Klaus. The Sectopod was on overwatch so she threw herself in front of the Sectopod in hopes to use up its overwatch shot so Klaus could flee to get healed. But the shot was a hit and killed her instantly as her health wasn't very high. She sacrificed her life so that Klaus could live. Klaus saved the earth from total destruction, all thanks to Molly.I'm gonna miss you soldier. Vigilo Confido.

My character and the one of my girlfriend were together in nearly every mission from the beginning. Mine was usually the squad commander, having reached Colonel first. He would lead the squads, unless he was deployed as the Covert Operative in which case my girlfriend's chara would take the reins. They both made it alive, together, to the Temple Ship, neither expecting any casualties-- until my (and by extension my character's) judgement failed him for one short moment and his girlfriend fell into Sectopod overwatch-- one of the last enemies in the game. After that, most of the rest of the squad up there died, leaving him with only his cousin as his closest friend at the end of it all, with a mutual friend of his girlfriend's whom would probably simply leave after the XCOM project was over. All that changing in the last moments of the war. Bittersweet ending for me :(. I imagine him sitting out alone on a beach somewhere after the initial celebrations-- with an empty seat next to him as he isn't sure how to feel.

My best sniper died today, killed by his best mate under an Ethereal's control. Col. Jaffa Cakes made short work of said Ethereal.

My four month-old puppy finally figured out how to exclusively poop and pee outside, along with how to negotiate stairs. In the same day. God fucking damnit, finally! I think this soundtrack fits my current mood fairly well. :) You have to take your small victories where you can, after all.
