The beginning is a section of "Stagger Lee". This American folk song first appears in 1911. Ma Rainey covered it in 1925 with Louis Armstrong on cornet. Lloyd Price rewrote it in '59, this version reached #1 on Billboards Top 100.Of course, "Wrong 'Em Boyo" is a cover, originally by the Jamaican rocksteady group The Rulers."The More You Know".

Yea, one of my favorite albums of all time. Lots of different styles going on and just amazing from start to finish. I really can't put it into words how good this album is!

This is so true. They might have been a punk band but they reached a level of creativity and open mindness toward other music that some other bands can only dream of. Sandanista! is such a great example of how differend kinds of music can make a better whole.

Yeah, but he chose a great tune. I think of them as street guys with the most refined taste in music, and I'm not kidding one bit. Just listen Topper Headon in this song for exapmple; his work is not a exhibition of skills, it's a professional drum work of someone who is taking his job seriously (too bad his drug problems later). Same with the rest of the members, perhaps they had their issues, but in the studio they were doing something relevant, not garbage and they knew it.
