I've been going through my old VHS tapes, finding things we taped a long time before eMpTyVee. This was from a show called "Rock World", and they played all sorts of clips. This particular episode was all Stiff Records stuff. Most of the rest is already on YouTube, but not this.

When I saw Paul Westerberg's first solo tour, in Toronto, he played Whole Wide World (as an encore, if memory serves...). I think I was one of about 50 people who sang along. A lovely, completely unexpected moment.

@k8fan Mega thanks for uploading this. I was 15 when this song was released--when it would be played on late-night Australian TV music programmes. It's been three decades since I've seen this video and actually heard the song, but the line "hell's bells, buckets of blood, you've got me reaching for my tranquilizers" has remained carved into my memory. Once again, huge thanks k8fan.

After spending several years in retirement, Wreckless Eric returned to music in 1985 with Captains of Industry, a group he formed with several former members of Ian Dury's Blockheads

I noticed the graphic at the end of the video said "Rock World." Dude! I remember seeing that show on local TV before the advent of MTV! Do you have any more videos of that show? And if so, are they're posted on your accout?

Ah yes...recording music videos from the TV. Those were the days. I got a bunch of VHS tapes with a mixture of cartoons, TV shows and LOADS of music videos. Good times, good times.
