Hey Soupkitch.... you gotta agree this song is FAR from mainstream stuff. That's why it's so awesome. They majority of people who's tastes have been unwittingly formed by corporate music marketing cannot even fathom. I have to give thanks to Sirius/XM Chill channel for pointing this artist/song to me. Always focus on the positives and never let the negatives weigh you down. Peace!

Thanks for posting. I think I've commented on this before. This song touches me in two ways. I listened to this song over/over to get over a girlfrielnd back in 2003. Also, I've been to the apocalyptic desolate wasteland known as Sallton Sea a few years back. I remember the hotel, but not the swings. Maybe I'll go back....keep on....

Actually, it's more likely they're famous because of perseverence, confidence, determination etc, that made them excel. Consider the type of audience they draw in. What if they were Rachael fans? How much of her work would they truly understand or respect? The idols aren't the reason. Don't be jealous of their type of fanbase in comparison. Just be happy that you know of Rachael Yamagata, I'm sure she'd appreciate you for it.

This song is great. And I love the fact that the video is and edit of the official Elephants video (also by Rachael Yamagata), yet the feeling is COMPLETELY different... though still of heartbreak.

I'm a rachel yamagata fan, too. I think I recognize this place in your video. Is this the Salton Sea? It's a very wide open and eery place. White sand made from the bones of millions of fish and bird.
