Also the 2nd Disgrace album, only released just a couple of years back and slightly reminiscent of Wolverine Blues, was recorded before the latter came out. By coincidence, the Finns switched to a rockier brand of death unbeknownst of what was going on in Stockholm at the same time, but the Swedes got all the glory. There seems to be a whole lot of people who actually care. I don't. Except about the music.

Yeah, the so-called chainsaw guitar tone may be the most prominent characteristic of Swedish DM, but also the tempo, the drum beat (someone with a better technical vocabulary than mine would be able to name it), has Swe-dm written on it.

In my opinion Swede-death is mostly about the guitar sound. All other aspects of it were pretty common everywhere else too (although more unknown). Besides these vocals sound way more like Finnish death than Swede-death. Swede-death vocals sound like thrash, other vocal styles were later added to it. Also the Finn band Xysma were Death 'n' Roll before Entombed.

Actually I think Swedish DM is more like a genre of its own - my personal favourite, I'd have to say. And the best non-Swedish Swedish DM album in my mind is Soulside Journey. Amen.

Seems like some of you guys didn't quite get it: Swedish death metal is a concept - the way I see it, this is Swedish DM, only it's made by Finns, but it is Swedish alright.

It is nice to see how oldschool rises again. Even though it never actually died there are many young deathmetal bands. Anyways, i think these new band will hardly ever have the same feeling as early 90´s deathmetal.
