It's been a very tough month for me. On Aug. 7th, it was my Mom's birthday. This Friday, Aug. 18th, will be my lost baby girl's 31st birthday. And, Aug. 22nd, will be the 40th anniversary of the very first day I met Sue in the lobby of WSU. I will never forget my first sight of her. I was hit by what we Italians call, "The Thunderbolt". I knew at that very moment that this was the girl I was going to marry. From that first meeting, I never could stop thinking about her. It's been like that every day since then. I suppose that's why I never remarried. Immediately after the kidnapping, I tried to reach Susan through her family but they would never permit me to speak with her. Then when I called, they hung up on me. When I wrote, they sent my letters back to me unopened. There was so much I wanted to say to her. In a prior Post I stated: " I have plenty of self-recriminations and regrets for stupid things I said or did. For only having eyes for the kids and neglecting her. You have no idea how I’ve looked back and saw how self-involved I was in my job, the kids, passing the Bar, the 79 show car, our dog, and so many other things which now I know did not make me a good husband in her eyes." Sometimes, some artist will put together words and sentiment that simply cannot be improved upon. So, I am borrowing from him because I could never say it better... If I could could only get just one message to reach Sue's ears now, it would be this, "Susan, You Were Always On My Mind"
